About Dr. Lee

Seeyuen Jane Lee, MD, is a board-certified laparoscopic and bariatric surgeon who treats patients throughout the Houston area at the practice of Philip L. Leggett, MD. A skilled surgeon with more than eight years of experience, Dr. Lee specializes in robotic and minimally invasive surgery, emphasizing the importance of treatment plans that best benefit each individual patient.

Dr. Lee received a political science degree from the prestigious Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, in 2005. She later earned a master’s degree in public health from the Boston University School of Public Health. After graduation, Dr. Lee realized she wanted to do hands-on work with patients, so she enrolled in medical school at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans.

After graduating in 2011, Dr. Lee stayed in New Orleans and completed her general surgery residency at the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center. Because she’s dedicated to delivering the most comprehensive care possible, Dr. Lee began a minimally invasive surgery fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2016. Minimally invasive surgery is associated with less pain, less scarring, and a shorter overall recovery time than with traditional surgery.

Outside of her clinic hours, Dr. Lee serves as associate program director for the Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship at Houston Northwest Medical Center, as well as clinical assistant professor of surgery at UTHealth/McGovern Medical School in Houston.

She’s certified by the American Board of Surgery.
